  1. Hi,

    Again this:

“Published May 06, 2019 | UpdatedLearn about other threats
    Trojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml
    Detected by Microsoft Defender Antivirus
    Aliases: No associated aliases

    Summary
Microsoft Defender Antivirus detects and removes this threat.

This threat can perform a number of actions of a malicious hacker’s choice on your PC.

Find out ways that malware can get on your PC.

    What to do now
Use the following free Microsoft software to detect and remove this threat:

Windows Defender for Windows 10 and Windows 8.1, or Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows 7 and Windows Vista
    Microsoft Safety Scanner
You should also run a full scan. A full scan might find other hidden malware.

    There’s something wrong.
This issue is happening on every of my PCs.

  2. Windows Defender thinks “C:\Program Files\Winaero Tweaker\Elevator.exe” (as installed by Winaero Tweaker 1.62.1) is a trojan. On my Windows 11 PC, it was detected as “Trojan:Win32/AgentTesla!ml”. VirusTotal’s Microsoft detection ( https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/c652ff8527dc82702ade1eca0cc6ca209c7f4713c42ff5263bfb372cae903133 ) is listed as “Trojan:Win32/ScarletFlash.A”. This could be a false positive, but 1.62.1 is the first version of Winaero Tweaker I remember being flagged by Windows Defender.

      1. As of today (February 26, 2024), neither VirusTotal’s Microsoft listing nor Windows Defender are detecting “C:\Program Files\Winaero Tweaker\Elevator.exe” from Winaero Tweaker 1.62.1 as malicious.

  3. Sergey,
Excellent program! We really appreciate your hard work and efforts!

When exporting Winaero tweak settings in Windows 10,

and I insert a new subdirectory (not yet created) in the path string (a subdir I named “WINAERO TWEAKER”):

    E:\LAILA_LIBRARIES_AREA_DO_NOT_DISTURB\Documents\WINAERO TWEAKER\Winaero Tweaker_2024_02_21.ini

WA throws an exception rather than creating the new subdir.

I was trying to keep the WA backup settings in its own subdirectory, rather than mixing it up with all the other program backups living there.

Many programs do this automatically, that is, create a subdir named after themselves to store the settings backups in for just their own program: Quick Access Popup, Displayfusion, Peace, ScriptHook, Adobe, Bigasoft, Zoom, Rockstar Games, Automate, Audacity, etc..

    Instead of throwing the exception,

it should pop up a windows saying, “directory “X” not found – do you want me to create it?”,
or just automatically create it and then store the backup in it.

Just thought you’d want to know!

    Cheers,
    Mark

  4. Chrome has changed bookmarks aspect , now options choose with Winaero not takes effect, and the bookmarks aspect restait unchanged.

  5. Thank you for the app, being able to restore some sanity to Windows helps immensely.

I had two pieces of feedback after my recent Windows 10 customisation with 1.62.1:

    1. I noticed a test popup being generated when clicking “Add Settings to Desktop context menu” in Context Menu > Settings. I’m guessing you have a test print function still in there from debugging something? (I’m running 21H2 19044.2728 with WinAero Tweaker 1.62.1.0 for context.)

    2. I’d like to suggest add tweaks to allow customising the Alt-Tab function based around this discussion on StackExchange: https://superuser.com/questions/960449/how-do-i-make-the-alt-tab-previews-smaller-in-windows-10
I have a pretty large monitor and the size and width of the Alt-Tab window (new Windows 10 Alt-Tab version, not the original Win7/XP retro version) is pretty small considering the full width of the monitor. It seems like you can modify the behaviour of various similar windows (like the snap previewer or desktop switcher) by creating or modifying various registry keys in MultitaskingView for the current user. Might be interesting to consider.

    Thanks again for the app!

    1. Hello. Thank you for your feedback and kind words.
I will remove the pop-up. Surprised to hear about it.
I will also check if the values still work. If so, we will have a gui for them.

  6. @Sergey

Yesterday I decided to increase the font size for the Icons. Making this one change changed font sizes all over the system. File Explorer, Qbitorrent, Desktop icons (like it should), Snipping tool (V 10.0.16299.15), ACDSee 3.1.

  7. I want to ask something that I know is not appropriate for this post. So can I ask, where do I make suggestions specifically to the Win+R Alias Manager software? I can’t seem to make a reply in its page.
